In a rematch of last year’s final, Barcelona emerged victorious with goals from Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal, clinching their place in the championship clash. The game unfolded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and despite a goalless first half, Barcelona’s persistence paid off in the second half.

The encounter started with promising attempts, including a long-range effort from Ferran Torres and Lewandowski’s close-range shot saved by Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera. Despite Barcelona being the favored team, Osasuna, the 2023 Copa del Rey runner-up, put up a resilient performance, with Jesús Areso and Ante Budimir posing threats to Barcelona’s defense.

However, Barcelona struggled to convert their opportunities, with Lewandowski missing a free header and having another attempt blocked inside the box. Both teams saw ambitious long-range free kicks saved, resulting in a goalless first half.

The second half saw Barcelona’s attack come to life, and Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the 59th minute, capitalizing on a through ball from İlkay Gündoğan to slot the ball past Herrera. As Osasuna’s offensive efforts dwindled, Barcelona introduced midfielder Pedri off the bench after recovering from injury.

However, winger Raphinha was substituted due to a leg problem, paving the way for 16-year-old sensation Yamal, who became the youngest player ever to participate in the Super Cup for Barcelona.

Yamal sealed the victory late in the game, receiving a pass from João Félix and finishing inside the box during added time. Barcelona manager Xavi expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, acknowledging it as a serious effort that boosts morale and confidence for the upcoming final against Real Madrid.

Looking ahead, Barcelona is poised to face Real Madrid in the final, renewing the El Clásico rivalry. Real Madrid secured their spot by defeating city rivals Atlético Madrid 5-3 in a thrilling semifinal that required extra time to determine the winner. The stage is set for a highly anticipated clash between the two Spanish giants on Sunday.
